Ministry Through Cyberspace
by Andrea

"But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you" (John 14:26).

When I first heard the statistics of what God was doing through the Women Today and Christian Women Today web sites, I was interested in finding out more about how I could become involved. I am an avid Internet user for many areas of my life, and quickly saw the value of how one could make a huge impact by becoming an e-mail mentor.

I have enjoyed being an e-mail mentor for over a year now and have not only seen God pour out blessings on the various people I have mentored, but also I have seen my own spiritual walk grow. In my e-mail responses to people, I am able to use my own life experience, as well as do extra research on specific life issues and applicable Bible verses. I have grown deeper in my knowledge of the Lord - what a great blessing! God is constantly teaching me things in my life that He wants passed on to those I mentor as well.

It is always an encouragement to hear back from the people I mentor online. One answer in particular touched my heart. It was from a young girl who lived with her dad. She had asked for prayer and advice concerning her dad’s job and their home situation. After I responded to her with some encouragement and a prayer, she e-mailed me back right away. She was so excited to see how God had specifically answered her prayers within a week of our interaction. God works even through cyberspace!

My background as an engineer has also helped me to also volunteer in the technical side of the ministry on the TruthMedia Training site. Recently I was able to put together material for the Frequently Asked Questions section to provide easy access to resources and Bible verses for mentors. You can check it out at Common Questions. If you have any topics you would like to see added to this section please let us know.
