I. Where to Find Images
Images can be found in two places:
- TM Image Database: http://imagedb.truthmedia.com/image_rep/
- DesignPics: http://wwwdesignpics.com
II. How to Purchase an Image from DesignPics
It is a good idea to familiarize yourself with the photos in the two designpics accounts so that the same image is not bought more than once. TruthMedia has a credit of 100 images each time it renews their image account.
Here are the steps to take when choosing an image:
Step 1: In DesignPics, once you see a photo you like, click on it for a larger watermark, then click ‘Add image to cart’.
Step 2: Make sure the size is set to high resolution and then click ‘checkout’ (The price shown should always show ‘0’ since TruthMedia buys 100 images at a flat rate). You should then see the picture you selected at the top of the list for all images in that account.
Step 3: Click on ‘generate image’.
Step 4: When the page refreshes, click on ‘download image’. It will download a zip file to your computer which you will have to unzip and then crop.
III. Standard Photo Sizes:
Articles – 150x90 pixels (horizontal) or 90x150 pixels (vertical)
Front page feature – 150x165
Index feature – 150x165
Front page thumbnail – 55x55
Author photos for bio – 55x55
IV. Adding an Image to an Article (Steps)
Example: ‘beauty/fall2005’
Step 1: Once a photo is croped, save it to your computer.
Step 2: In the ‘content’ workarea of the site, click on the ‘images’ folder then browse to article/beauty/.
Step 3: Click on ‘create new folder’ under the File menu and type in the name of the article for which you want to add a photo (you only have to create a new folder if there aren’t already any images in that article).
In the example, a new folder would be created and named ‘fall2005’.
Step 4: Click on that folder and select ‘Import’. It should display the files on your hard drive after a few moments. Browse to the photo you cropped and saved, and double click on it so it is added to the bottom panel and then click 'import'. The image is now in the new file folder you created.
Step 5: At this point it is a good idea to rename the photos to make them better organized. A simple way to do this is to rename photos with 1, 2, 3, and so on. To do this, check the box beside the photo you wish to rename. Choose 'rename' from the File menu ad rename the image to 1.jpg or 2.jpg for example. Once the task of importing and renaming is complete, direct submit the image.
Step 6: Open up the article into which the image is to be placed.
Step 7: Once in the article, place your cursor to the line where you want the image to sit and click on the image icon (small mountain). A window will appear with a field that says ‘select new file’. Click on that button. Another window will appear whereupon you can browse to where your photo is in IW.
In the example, the image would be found in the ‘images/article/beauty/fall2005’ folder.
Step 8: Once the image is found and selected, alignment must be selected. More often than not, alignment should be set as ‘left’. This can be found in the ‘alignment’ drop down menu. Click OK.
Step 9: The photo should now appear in the body of the DCR. Do not be alarmed if the image shows up as a broken image, as it should appear properly once the article is previewd.
Step 10: Images can be linked in the same way text is linked. To do this, select the image and click on the link icon (globe with paper clip).
Step 11: Save, preview, and direct submit the article as usual.
If you want to see it the article in dev, you will have to deploy your image (in the images folder) and the article DCR to dev.
