Alt tags for feature images in main index pages and subindex pages are automatically selected. If you add in link text, the alt tag will automatically use that same text.
For images in articles
Once an image is properly uploaded into the image file and placed in the article, do the following:
- Select the image in IW (ie – click on it within the article)
- Click on the picture properties button (the yellow icon in IW that looks like a stamp with mountains on it)
- Once in the Picture Properties window, place text in the “title” field. This text becomes the alt tag.
- To change picture properties, select an appropriate alignment so that text wraps around the image. For example, if you select "left" under the "alignment" drop down menu, the image will appear on the left hand side of the text and the text will wrap around the image.
- Preview the article before you direct submit and deploy.
Alt Tag Hints:
- Please note to keep alt tag text to a minimum, as long tag text will throw off the template.
- Use keywords for the alt tag when it makes sense to.
